The Product Manager will serve as a key leader at JustAir, reporting directly to the CEO and collaborating across teams to shape our product vision and deliver innovative software solutions that our clients, users, and team members love. As the first person in this role, you'll join a close-knit, Detroit-based team driven by social impact and environmental justice. - Collaborate with the CEO, industry experts, team, and stakeholders to define and refine JustAir’s product vision and strategy.
- Stay informed on industry trends, alternative offerings, and emerging technologies to inform product decisions.
- Identify opportunities for innovation that align with the company’s mission and market needs.
- Develop a deep understanding of air quality science, data analysis, and insights that can provide users and clients with information to create change.
- Work closely with the team to understand user and client needs (e.g. government and public health leaders, policymakers, the public, researchers, etc.), ensure the JustAir product aligns with those needs.
- Oversee the architecture of the product, including the JustAir public and administrative dashboard to meet user needs.
- Work closely with the CEO, Engineering, and Project (client) teams to define the product roadmap, including planning, execution, and delivery using tools like Jira.
- Collaborate with the CEO, Engineering, and Project teams to define and prioritize features, enhancements, and bug fixes, guiding the team to meet and exceed expectations.
- Manage and write detailed product requirements, epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria in Jira.
- Facilitate team meetings related to the product (e.g., sprint planning, standups, retrospectives) to ensure clear goals and efficient development cycles.
- Monitor product performance through analytics and feedback, using insights to iterate and improve.
- Conceptualize user interfaces and experiences that are intuitive and visually compelling using tools like Figma to create wireframes, mockups, and prototypes as part of the product development process.
- Maintain a strong focus on user-centered design, ensuring that all product elements meet client and user needs while being easy to use.
- Ensure the delivery of a product that users, customers, and team members absolutely love.
- Actively participate in team meetings and strategy sessions, develop and meet organizational objectives and key results.
- Implement projects within the standard process and procedures, documented and tracked in tools like Jira, Confluence, the JustAir App, and more.
- Improve team processes based on client feedback, research, and lived experience.
- Allocate time to research, iterate, participate in or lead special projects that further the company’s mission.
Required Skills, Attributes & Interests
- Must be aligned with JustAir's mission, vision, and values.
- Must be based in Southeast Michigan and able/willing to work at the JustAir office in Corktown, Detroit at least two days per week.
- 3+ years of experience in product management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical teams.
- Excellent organization skills.
- Proficiency and passion for product management tools like Jira.
- Excellent listening skills, analytical skills, and ability to synthesize information to design software products and make informed, strategic decisions.
- Proven track record of successfully launching and managing products throughout their lifecycle.
- Familiarity with software as a service (Saas) product development and experience building highly technical products.
- Knowledge of user-centered design principals and passionate about developing products that are pleasant, usable, easy to use and aesthetically pleasing.
- Interest in air quality, public health, and advancing environmental justice.
- Enthusiasm for working with diverse teams and clients, dedicated to contributing to an equitable organizational culture.

JustAir is a small, growing startup. The salary for this position is expected to be between $85,000 and $105,000 based on experience, relevant accomplishments, and expertise.
